Sedrick & Cliff // Atlanta Swan House Wedding

Sedrick & Cliff’s Atlanta History Center wedding was such a gorgeous day chock full of details and amazing design. They honestly had the most stellar vendor team! In fact, this wedding was actually nominated for an Allie Award for Best Team Effort in the Weddings category!

But even more importantly, Sed & Cliff were surrounded by the people who love and support them. One of the things they said to me in our initial consultation was that they only wanted to invite the people who would share the moment with them, the people who truly want to celebrate them as a couple. And that’s what matters at your wedding: surrounding yourselves with love! Sedrick & Cliff’ chose to be married at the beautiful Atlanta Swan House, which is such a phenomenal venue. It’s been featured in movies and TV shows – you might recognize it!

Getting Ready

I loved all of the details that Sedrick & Cliff had on the morning of their wedding for me to photograph. Along with their handkerchief, they had their handfasting cord and other cosmic details. Sedrick & Cliff chose an overall theme of stars, galaxies, and the night sky – so the colors and details they chose all reflected this stunning idea.

When it came time to get ready, Sedrick & Cliff chose to have their families help them with the final pieces of their outfits. It was special to step outside the Atlanta Swan House on a beautiful November day and watch everyone prepare for the celebration.

Sedrick & Cliff didn’t have a wedding party but instead, some of their guests wore either blue or a dark green. It was really neat to see a subtle nod to the colors Sedrick & Cliff had picked for their day without having a true wedding party. Their families incorporated their colors into their attire for the day too, which was just really sweet to see!

Portraits at the Atlanta Swan House

After Sedrick & Cliff were done prepping with their families, we walked around the venue! There’s so many unique and special spots for portraits around the Swan House. The fall leaves were on display for us and we enjoyed getting to play with them. Some of my favorite photos of the entire day were with the vintage car. There was just some truly fantastic light I got to play with in that spot with Sedrick & Cliff!

One of the other things I love about the Swan House were the columns on the front of the venue. They’re so classic and elegant – just perfect for dramatic wedding portraits! Since Sedrick & Cliff’s wedding was in November, we were able to get inside and snap a few photos with their Christmas tree – a great way to get some seasonal portraits without making it all about Christmas!

Atlanta Swan House Wedding Ceremony

The entire place looked gorgeous for Sedrick & Cliff’s wedding ceremony. Sedrick & Cliff were married at the bottom of the huge staircase that comes down around the fountain. During the ceremony, Sedrick & Cliff completed a sand ceremony with blue and green sand – it was perfect! Their officiant, Rev. Whitney Marie, is one of my all time new favorite officiants ever, she was phenomenal. She really had imbued the whole day with so much meaning. My other favorite part of their ceremony was their flower girl – who danced down the aisle and even served drinks. Awesome double duty! Sedrick & Cliff tied the knot right by the water fountain in a personal and intimate ceremony. Like I mentioned before, having the people there that really mattered and would celebrate with them in the best way possible was so special to them. It really created a beautiful atmosphere.

After the ceremony, Sedrick & Cliff had an impromptu receiving line. Honestly, I really loved it. It was a great way to see everyone – meet and greet with the people that celebrated with them. Since we had already done so many of the portraits for Sedrick & Cliff, they could really enjoy spending the time with their guests before the reception!

Atlanta Wedding Reception

Sedrick & Cliff wanted to create a really unique experience for their guests, so they had a tarot reading taking place during their reception. They also had a live painter who was doing portraits and an electric violinist playing during the cocktail hour. I loved that they really created an atmosphere of things they love, which resulted in a fun experience for their guests.

Once their guests moved into the reception, the night sky theme continued. Sedrick & Cliff are huge LEGO fans, so their love for those tiny bricks was displayed everywhere! I also loved all of the nods to Atlanta throughout their decor too. So personalized and so fun! I’m still obsessed with how rich and dark everything looked. Perhaps my favorite LEGO detail was their guestbook – where guests could create their own LEGO representation. It was adorable.

With late night snacks and a full variety of flavors, Sedrick & Cliff really went all out to make sure their guests were taken care of from start to finish on their wedding day. It was so special to watch Sedrick & Cliff love on their people – and feel all of the love right back! Their night ended with some fireworks and then Sedrick & Cliff headed off into the night.
