Amy & Brittany // Atlanta Wedding at the Little Cottage

Amy & Britt’s wedding at the Little Cottage was incredibly joyful and emotional, and I adored their focus on creating meaningful experiences for their guests. I absolutely love these two – they’re so affectionate and their happiness was at an all time high on their wedding day {as it should be}. After photographing Amy & Britt during their Decatur engagement session, I couldn’t wait for their wedding day to arrive. As soon as the day began, I could feel how much love they’re constantly surrounded with. It was such a special vibe for a beautiful day!

Getting Ready at the Moxy Midtown

When my second shooter and I arrived at the Moxy Midtown, Amy & Britt were getting ready together. I loved that they chose to prep together – but dress separately – so their final wedding day looks were a surprise. It was truly the best of both worlds! Everyone from their wedding party was preparing together so it was the most glorious chaos: warm and nice and wild… but perfect. When they were ready, Amy & Britt went to their own spaces to prepare.

A quick note for all of my couples: when you prepare and get into your dress or suit on your wedding day, you do NOT have to have me in the room if you don’t want. It can be a quiet time for you {or you and your loved ones helping} or just a special thing for you. I can photograph it or not, but please know you aren’t required to have anyone in that space that you don’t want!

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Just focus on you and your partner! Do the things that you want to do. It’s your special day. Don’t stress over the small things.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

I would have made the day longer. I feel like I blinked, and it was over.

First Look on the Rooftop

When Amy & Britt were both ready, they met for their first look on the top of the Moxy Midtown. It was incredibly windy but I LOVED it personally. I think it brought some amazing movement and messiness into their photos. I’m a huge fan of anything that feels natural and like real life, so I didn’t mind one bit. Amy & Britt had such a special moment and huge emotional reactions to seeing each other – and getting ready together in the morning didn’t take away from that one bit. Although their wedding day was chilly, we had the most beautiful blue sky and with the view overlooking Atlanta, it was a gorgeous backdrop for Amy & Britt’s first portraits on their wedding day together!

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?

The most memorable moment from our wedding day was the first look. It was a moment I will remember forever getting to my partner’s face made me so excited to marry her. I was filled with so much joy and happiness.

Wedding Ceremony at the Little Cottage

Okay, I have to admit, I’m obsessed with the Little Cottage. It’s this super cute venue right outside of Atlanta with brick walls, high ceilings, and an open space for couples to bring their vision to their event. With warm light streaming in through the windows during their ceremony, everything just felt SO cozy for Amy & Britt. Amy & Britt’s ceremony was emotional for everyone, especially the two of them and they had their pastor officiate this special moment. It was truly beautiful!

What were you most anxious or nervous about regarding your wedding day and how did it turn out?

I was nervous about the vows exchange. I get nervous whenever people are looking at me and I do not like being the central of attention. It was a nice peaceful moment that felt like it was only me and my partner in the room. I could just feel all the love around us.

Atlanta Wedding Portraits

After their ceremony, I stole Amy & Britt away for some sweet golden hour portraits. In the winter, the sun sets earlier so we were able to knock out these portraits while their guests began the cocktail hour. I love love love this beautiful light and I’m so thankful we had time for these photos!

What did you love about your venue/wedding location?

I loved the indoor patio space! I felt like it was such a fun place to take pictures.

The Little Cottage Wedding Reception

Amy & Britt really focused on their guests’ experience when planning their wedding. They had a fun photo booth camper that everyone could use and even had little cut outs of their dogs {who we featured in their engagement session!} outside the venue. Once guests came inside, the party really got started. Amy & Britt had a huge crossword puzzle for everyone to do – with the clues coming from their life together, so fun!

It was important to Amy & Britt that their guests had a great time. One of the coolest things that they did was have their makeup artist stay into the reception and offered glitter for their hair and face. Everyone could really feel glammed up and ready for the dance floor! Amy & Britt also had one of their favorite drag queens emcee their reception, which was super fun too! I love how much they thought about what would make their reception memorable for everyone!

Any tips for future couples on how to prepare for their wedding photos?

It is good to make sure you are comfortable with your photographer! Raven made us feel like friends and was so comfortable to be around, so I think it was easy to take pictures with her!

To end the night, Amy & Britt changed into matching white dungarees and pink shirts. It was super cute and casual – and helped their guests get excited for their after party. It was a perfect way to end their party and reception with their guests!
