Backyard Elopement in Atlanta // Carmen & Daniel
Carmen & Daniel saw a lot of changes throughout their wedding planning, like all of my couples over the past two years. But what resulted ended up being completely perfect for them anyway! We knew there were a couple of important factors for planning their elopement: a laidback vibe with no rushing anywhere, their home, and some loved ones. We started out at their home just outside of Atlanta where the couple live with Carmen’s daughter, enjoying snacks as they waited on the few guests to arrive. The officiant is a close friend of the couple, having met Carmen when they both went to the Decatur courthouse to help get some couples hitched as soon as the Supreme Court’s ruling in the case of Obergefell v. Hodges came down!
It was a small and lovely day, completely relaxed and without timeline, which worked perfectly for them! Although these elopements aren’t really anything new {and were happening before COVID}, I’m grateful that more couples are leaning into what works for them and their lives when it comes to their big days. Your wedding day is about a new chapter in your love story. I’m a firm believer that your celebrations should reflect who you are. Backyard kisses with sweet dogs as guests included.Â
Getting Ready

Their Ceremony
Once everyone was gathered, including their rambunctious boxer pup Diego, we headed out into their beautiful backyard, which was fully green and lush. They said their vows, exchanged rings and a kiss, and then it was portrait time.
What did you love about your venue/wedding location?
There was nothing more beautiful and comforting than having our wedding in our backyard! I absolutely love our yard and it was easy to dress and walk right out!

Wedding Portraits
We captured their backyard a bit, my goal being immortalizing this place that means so much to them, and then headed to Henderson Park nearby {a recent favorite for the three of them} to explore a bit of this glorious deck and pond. Together, we photographed past the sunset, just hanging out and playing a game of Telephone, then headed back to the cars so the couple could depart for their reception meal together.
What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding
Breathe. Take one step at a time. And stay focused on the fact that this day about celebrating your love.
