Dogwood Southern Table & Bar Wedding // Sabina & Randolph

Sabina & Randolph. I mean, what can I even say about these two? They are a complete dream, so it’s no surprise that their wedding was, also. They chose to host their wedding at the restaurant where Randolph works as a chef, Dogwood Southern Table & Bar in Charlotte, NC. It’s a beautiful and intimate space that has meant a lot to the couple since their move to Charlotte. It was a choice that felt especially right since Randolph’s biggest priority with the wedding planning was the FOOD! Hosting at his restaurant meant he could comfortably oversee everything and also feel at home.

Getting Ready

Sabina got ready across the street at a hotel with her close family. Meanwhile, Randolph got ready at the couple’s home {actually where we did their engagement session}. Then they met up at the start of the ceremony. For Sabina’s portraits, I had been scouting out family and portrait locations in the hotel lobby when I caught sight of this gorgeous purple and textured booth seat in the bar with the most stunning slices of light falling on it. Because she’s amazing, Sabina let me play around in this space for a while since we had some time. I adore how her portraits came out. {Whenever I scout for family, couple, or any other kind of portraits, color and light are going to be two of the biggest aspects I’m looking for!}

Dogwood Southern Table & Bar Wedding Ceremony

After everyone was ready, my second shooter and dear friend Gabbie and I headed over to the venue, Dogwood. Everything inside was themed after stars and the night sky. They also play with the concept of everything in the universe being made of stardust {a sentiment that touches me deeply every time I consider it!}. For the ceremony, the couple met at the top of the aisle, right inside the front door, then walked the aisle together to the altar.

Instead of having multiple rooms for their wedding, Sabina & Randolph had the brilliant idea of combining everything. All of their guests were seated at the same tables for the ceremony that they would be at for the reception. It made things so convenient and easy for everyone. I thought it was a fantastic way to save space and avoid a flip if you don’t have the room for one. During the ceremony, they had multiple loved ones do important readings, bringing a deeply emotional and personal element.

Wedding Portraits

Family Portraits & Reception

We chose to do family photos in front of the adorable fountain out front of Dogwood and then took a short walk with just the couple before returning them to their reception. Because food is such an important element for these to, you know it was amazing. One of my favorite aspects of this wedding was getting to photograph the food preparation and service. I loved seeing all the bits that go into plating a gorgeous meal, and capturing the chaos of a kitchen. Dinner was followed by the cake cutting, which the bride made herself. {Actually, she made SIX!}. Then, we closed out the night with their first dance and everyone joining them on the dance floor.
