Chrissy & Robbie // Fall Wedding at Wildflower 301

Chrissy & Robbie had a beautiful October wedding at Wildflower 301, a venue I was excited to return to! It’s really interesting being able to photograph the same venue in different seasons; each time of year brings a completely different look and often reflects the couple really well, too. Chrissy & Robbie incorporated some witchy elements to their day, including cleansing the ceremony space the morning of the wedding, which was really beautiful to witness. I always think of bold orange with this couple, so I was excited to see that the color was woven all through their day! I first met Chrissy & Robbie when I did their engagement session with their two pups, so it was wonderful to see them again for their big day!

Getting Ready at Wildflower 301

One of my favorite things about Wildflower 301 is that there’s just so many beautiful spaces. As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen a lot of getting ready spaces – and I love that both Chrissy & Robbie had beautiful spaces to prepare for their wedding. And, the day of Chrissy & Robbie’s wedding day was exciting – not just because I got to see Chrissy & Robbie again {or that they were getting married, ha!} but because I got to see their pups again, too! I’m kidding – but it was awesome to see their dogs in the prep space all morning with Chrissy and her side. Chrissy had the most beautiful sparkly details for her wedding day, and I was obsessed with her shoes. They’re super sparkly ankle boots and they caught the light magically. I’m so glad I got to photograph them!

What did you love about your venue/wedding location?

Robbie: I loved the beauty and nature that filled the venue, and also enjoyed that everything (ceremony, reception, getting ready spaces) was close together and easily accessible.

Chrissy: I loved how gorgeous the grounds were. Nature is really important to our relationship and my spiritual practice, so being able to find a place that fit all our event needs while still feeling surrounded by nature was my favorite thing.

Before she actually got ready, Chrissy took some time to take incense to their ceremony site and cleansed the space.I thought it was beautiful. She walked around with the cleansing smoke to invite in positivity and love. I think it was just another way that Chrissy & Robbie made this space their own.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Chrissy: Prepare for your own handicaps lol. I notoriously overheat, even in mild weather, but did not think about hot my dress in combination with the warm weather would make me (and my hair, my makeup, my energy…) disintegrate! I would’ve brought an electric personal fan instead of just my paper one, and stocked up on some kind of liquid IV.

First Look in the Garden

After preparing, Chrissy & Robbie had a first look in one of Wildflower 301’s gardens. The sun was shining through the space so beautifully. We also had some really unique flowers in that space to play with, which was super fun.

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?

Robbie: Our first look. It was a nice, peaceful moment where we got to be ourselves, and I finally got to see her dress.

Chrissy: Our first look or our ceremony. I didn’t realize how nervous I was for everything until right beforehand, so having that moment to reconnect was perfect.

Wedding Ceremony at Wildflower 301

The ceremony space at Wildflower 301 is gorgeous! There are three big arches, which are lovely and the entire place has a spectacular garden. All over the ceremony site are nooks and crannies that provide such unique spots for portraits and special moments. Even though Chrissy & Robbie’s wedding was in October, there were still butterflies around the site, too! So beautiful.

During the start of the ceremony, Chrissy & Robbie had beer/flower guys. So they threw flower petals and also passed out a couple of alcoholic beverages to the crowd, which I thought was so great. Their officiant and maid of honor walked Chrissy & Robbie’s dogs down the aisle so they could be a part of the ceremony, too. Chrissy & Robbie also did a ring warming and passed the ring through the first row of guests – their families and family members.

What were you most anxious or nervous about regarding your wedding day and how did it turn out?

Robbie: I was most nervous about our guests. People not showing up, some kind of drama, someone not holding it together. But I think everyone had a great time and we stayed drama free.

Chrissy: I was most nervous about being the center of attention! I am such an introvert and really value my alone/quiet time, and I was thankfully able to find enough of that during the day to avoid getting burnt out and enjoy every moment.

Wildflower 301 Wedding Portraits

After the ceremony, I walked Chrissy & Robbie through the gardens for some wedding portraits. It was a nice way to have a quiet moment together and capture more photos on this gorgeous property.

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Robbie: Make time for it, there’s more that goes into it than you think. Research your vendors and find ones you really click with, and be intentional with your choices.

Chrissy: Ask for help. I am a detail-oriented person with a background in events, and even I couldn’t do it all by myself! Work together with your partner! And find your rockstar group of vendors that get you and your vision.

Atlanta Wedding Reception

Chrissy & Robbie’s wedding reception was so fun! They had great speeches, dances, and a wonderful party for their guests. One of my favorite parts was the end of the night. Before meeting their guests for a big sendoff, Chrissy & Robbie had a private last dance. A few of my couples have done that now and I think it’s a wonderful way to get a few more moments together, alone, on your wedding day.

Any tips for future couples on how to prepare for their wedding photos?

Robbie: Take time to plan a family/friend shot list, and get the wedding party involved in that conversation so it’s less spur of the moment improv. Communicate with your photographer to maximize being on the same page. Trust your photographer and work with them.

Chrissy: Know the style you want. If you want someone to pose you for every shot, that’s great, but find a photographer who loves to do that! If you love documentary style photography, find a photographer who specializes in that. And then trust that photographer to do exactly what you hired them for. You may not get every photo you saw on Pinterest during your planning phase, but you will get ones that you love and truly capture your day.
