Flat Rock State Park Engagement Portraits // Savannah & James

Savannah & James reached out for an engagement session {of sorts, even though the two had already wed!} that felt as if they’d stepped into a fairy realm, and boy oh boy did they deliver. We chose Flat Rock State Park down in Columbus, near where they currently live, and it was the perfect setting. It had everything we could have wanted, including huge shoals, waterfalls, beautiful deep forests with sunlight streaming through the trees, and beautiful glens to wander.

Fantasy Inspired Flat Rock State Park Engagement Portraits

The session ended up, kind of magically, falling on Halloween/Samhain of that year, so feeling completely inspired by the dress Savannah showed me that she’d picked out, I asked how they’d feel about my bringing smoke bombs! We split the session in two, focusing on a fantasy look and feel through the woods and pools of sunshine for the first outfit, and then finding some open shade and pulling out the smoke bombs for the second outfit.

This session was such a blast to plan and carry out. I can’t wait to hang with these two again and see all the epicness they have planned for their Sanctuary on Penn wedding in Indianapolis!
