Your engagement session can look suspiciously like a really good Saturday.

Video games on the couch. Digging through records at your favorite shop. A drink together. Giving each other shit about who's actually winning.

When we build a session around stuff you genuinely like doing, you've got something to focus on besides whether your smile looks weird. You just settle into being together, and I get to notice all the small, specific ways you are with each other.

Your home, your go-to bar, the record shop that means something. All of it belongs in your photos if it matters to you.

Tell me what a good day together actually looks like, and we'll start there.

The art of noticing is paying attention and waiting for the moments to press the shutter.

You’re busy getting married, hugging your people, and enjoying the hell out of your day. I’m watching how it all unfolds, ready for the little moments you’ll be glad someone caught.

A first look gives you a minute with the person you’re actually marrying. Imagine that!

Before the ceremony, the hugs, and everyone asking where they’re supposed to stand, you get to see each other, breathe, and say, “Oh wow, we’re doing this.”

If being the center of attention makes you nervous, seeing your person beforehand can help. And depending on your timeline, we can take some photos then, leaving you more time after the ceremony to grab a drink and hang out with your people.

Seeing each other early doesn’t mean you’ve used up all the feelings. Walking down the aisle is still its own moment.

If waiting until the ceremony feels right, trust that. But if a little time together would help you feel more present, a first look is worth considering.

Planning a day that feels like you? Let’s talk—link in bio.

An Cincinnati, OH engagement session

Last week I flew up to Cincinnati, OH to hang out with Alena & Christine for their engagement session (because I love getting to document your life and the things that are important to you, no matter where they are).

I met the cats - well, one and a half, since one wanted nothing to do with the paparazzi - we talked about plants and visited Christine’s grandparents. We looked through her parents’ wedding album - the kind of nostalgia I always aim for in my own photos - explored the property that’s meant so much to Christine her whole life, and ended at Summit Park, where they have spent much of their early Ohio experience together.

(We also got some of the most amazing ice cream I’ve ever had, can’t wait to share more photos! And no I don’t care that I used some images multiple times I love them. 😍 )

So many people are convinced they’re not photogenic.

That something about them just doesn’t work on camera.

"I make weird faces and was worried we wouldn't have any good photos, but Raven got great photos of us!” - Megan & Josh

But there’s no such thing as being photogenic. It’s just about creating space where you can let your guard down and be yourself. That’s how we get great photos together.

KonMari your elopement and build what sparks ✨JOY✨

Going back in time a few years today to the KonMari method because you can 100% use it for planning your elopement.

I’ve photographed dozens of elopements, and the consistent thread through all of them is that the couples who loved their day the MOST all did the same thing: they started with a blank slate and built up around what would actually make them happy.

They didn’t start with a template and adjust, they started fresh.

Donuts. Walks along the coast. Horseback riding. Writing their vows together. Dinner at your favorite local spot. Kite flying. S’mores at a campfire. Including the pets. Cold pizza in the back of the 4x4.

This might mean skipping things everyone assumes is required, or adding something no one else would ever think to include. Or it might mean all of the expected beats of the day. It doesn’t matter as long as you’re intentionally choosing it because it lights you up.

Wanting to plan a day true to you? I can help with that! DM me to get the ball rolling.

The difference between a forced, posed photo and a relaxed, unposed one isn't just a different look.

It's evidence of two wholly different experiences in the moment they were made.

In one, you're focused on what you're doing with your hands, your face, trying to make sure you look like you're having a good time. Performing the look of a couple in love instead of just being in love. And when you look back through the photos, that's exactly what you'll remember: what the photographer said, how awkward you felt, how stiff you look.

And in the other, you're locked in, present, just enjoying the moment. Existing in the most relaxed and natural way possible. And when you look back through the photos, that's exactly what you'll remember: that you were laughing so hard your belly hurt, the way you caught your partner's eye because your uncle really just said that, tearing up more than you thought you would because of how loved you felt.

What it felt, sounded, tasted, smelled like: all brought back to you because of how it looks in the photos.

Want photos that bring you right back to the moments? Get in touch and let me know your wedding date!

There's a real trust problem happening right now with couples looking for wedding vendors online. Completely AI-generated images, work that's either heavily filtered or entirely lifted off someone else's site, hiding their real reviews. It's quite a list.

So let's get that trust back. Here's what I'd check before hiring anyone:

Do they have real reviews?

Me?: I have almost 100 reviews on Google, Zola, and even some on Yelp and Facebook.

Is it their actual work?

Me?: Everything I show is my work, unless I'm sharing work by my associates. On socials, I only post work taken by me. I'm always happy to share full galleries.

Are they a real business?.

Me?: Not only do I always use contracts, they're written - and annually updated - by a real life lawyer. You can look up my business license or I can share that info. And I have a Google Business Listing for all to see.

Are they authentic?

Me?: I love hopping on calls with folks! And I pride myself on making sure I'm presenting myself authentically across every single method of communication. I'm always myself so you can always be yourself.

Above all, listen to your gut. You can tell when something is off. Look more closely, ask for more info, and feel them out in real life.

Looking for someone who hits all of the above and more? Get in touch and tell me about your wedding day! I'd love to hear it.
