Queer Content Day for NC Wedding Vendors // Love in Bloom

Last month I took part in a queer content day by Curated by Crooked Window, someone I had only recently connected with online. I SO glad that the universe brought us together for this. The day was meant to inspire us as vendors, but also to highlight and lift up queer couples. How could I say no to a day like that?!

This Queer Content day consisted of three different wedding looks and three different couples, each with a distinct dream of a theme. The first one was Love in Bloom, which I felt had a late 60’s/early 70’s groovy vibe on top of being colorful and playful. I freaking loved it. From the couples’ outfits to the incredible reception space that Curated by Crooked Window designed, it couldn’t have been more groovy!

I had SUCH a blast with this couple. Photographing them truly felt like a collaboration. I spent our time together bouncing ideas off them, and just chatting and laughing while we melted in the sun together {it was hot!}. This top of the mountain spot at Wild One Acres was a lot of fun to play in, as well, with both forest and field vibes to balance against the colors of the setup. I loved being able to bring these two worlds together.

I wanted to take part in this shoot as a creative outlet, of course; any opportunity I have to improve my skills and try new things, I want to jump at. But more than that, what convinced me to be a part of the shoot immediately was highlighting and lifting up queer couples specifically. We’ve come a long way in the wedding industry but there’s still so much farther to go, and I loved that this was the focus of the day’s shoots. It was important to me as a vendor, a photographer, but most importantly, as a human being. I want my couples to feel represented and seen.
