Okay so because Jacque and Jessica are already married, this isn’t technically an Asheville engagement session.
BUT if you’re planning an Asheville engagement session and want something relaxed, meaningful, and rooted in experience instead of posing, this session is a really good example of how that can look.

They live nearby, but turned their session into a staycation by renting a log cabin just outside of Asheville. They brought both of their dogs — a Chinese crested and a Newfoundland — and immediately leaned into the slower pace that Asheville invites. No rushing, just space to be together.

We started right at the cabin, hanging out in the backyard while the dogs explored. Jacque and Jessica are incredibly sweet together — playful, flirty, and very at ease. Jacque was constantly teasing Jessica, and it was one of those sessions where you can clearly see how they connect without anything needing to be directed.

One of my favorite moments of the day happened on the back porch. Jacque did a one-card tarot pull for Jessica, just the two of them sitting in the sunshine with the mountains behind them. It was quiet and intimate and felt like a true reflection of their relationship. Including personal rituals like this is one of the reasons Asheville engagement sessions work so well — there’s room to slow down and let moments happen naturally.

After an outfit change, we headed out for a short hike nearby. Along the trail, there was a swing with mountain views, and farther in, the woods got darker and more enclosed. They brought spell bottles with them and took time to create small spell jars together in the woods. A meaningful moment unfolding organically. And then we headed back home.

That’s one of the things I love most about Asheville engagement sessions: they don’t need to be big or complicated to be meaningful. A cabin, your dogs, a walk in the woods, and space to be yourselves is more than enough.
