A Chattahoochee Nature Center wedding puts nature at the center of your day, literally. I photographed Holly & Andrew’s wedding here, and even with a rainy start, it turned into one of the most relaxed, love-filled days I’ve been part of. If you’re considering this venue, here’s what you need to know, plus a real look at how one couple made it work, rain and all.
About Chattahoochee Nature Center
The Chattahoochee Nature Center sits on a 125-acre nature preserve in Roswell, right along the Chattahoochee River. It’s a working nature center year-round, complete with wildlife, gardens, and walking trails, which means your wedding day comes with built-in scenery you couldn’t recreate anywhere else.
The venue offers a few different event spaces depending on your guest count. The Green Roof and River Boardwalk both work well for smaller weddings and elopements, holding up to 70 guests, with views over the grounds or the river. For larger celebrations, the Ben Brady Lakeside Pavilion holds up to 250 guests and comes with string lights, drapery, and a high ceiling overlooking the water. A spacious wedding suite is included with your rental for getting ready.
My advice for this venue: build in a weather backup plan, even if you’re set on an outdoor ceremony. Holly & Andrew’s day started rainy, and the staff helped them pivot their ceremony under the reception pavilion without missing a beat. The venue has hosted enough weddings to handle a shift smoothly, so lean on that experience if the forecast doesn’t cooperate.
Ceremony Locations at Chattahoochee Nature Center
You can choose between the Green Roof, the River Boardwalk, or the Ben Brady Lakeside Pavilion for your ceremony. Holly & Andrew had planned an outdoor ceremony, but when rain moved in, they shifted things under the pavilion instead, and it worked out beautifully. Having a pavilion option built into the venue makes weather far less stressful to plan around.
Reception Venues at Chattahoochee Nature Center
The Ben Brady Lakeside Pavilion is the main reception space, set right on the water with string lights and elegant drapery overhead. It’s built for exactly the kind of evening Holly & Andrew had: dinner, dancing, and a bit of a chill in the air, warmed by a roaring fire and heaters set up around the space.
Photography Opportunities at Chattahoochee Nature Center
The welcome center and gift shop area is a great option for a first look, both for the lighting and for the charm of the space itself. From there, the grounds give you endless options: gardens, walking trails, and a pedestrian bridge overlooking the wetlands that’s worth building time into your day for. Even in the rain, Holly & Andrew’s portraits ended up lush and vivid against the greenery, proof that a little weather doesn’t have to work against you here.

A Real Life Chattahoochee Nature Center Wedding: Holly & Andrew
Holly & Andrew’s Chattahoochee Nature Center wedding started with rain, but it never once threw off the day. Holly got ready with help from her aunt, wearing an embroidered veil dotted with tiny flowers, a small, sweet nod to the nature theme running through the whole celebration.
Their first look happened in the welcome center, chosen partly for the lighting and partly because the space itself is lovely. Despite the weather, they headed out onto the grounds afterward to capture the greenery and spring color that only looked more vivid against the stormy sky.
When the rain didn’t let up in time for their planned outdoor ceremony, the venue helped them pivot to the reception pavilion instead. Holly & Andrew’s family stepped in for the music, with a cousin playing piano as they exchanged vows. After the ceremony, a brief break in the rain gave us just enough time to grab portraits out along the nature center’s walkways before the reception.
The night wrapped with an outdoor reception at the pavilion, warmed by a fire and heaters against the chill. Holly & Andrew kept the details personal and low-key: a Vietnamese food truck for dinner and a mixer game to help guests get to know each other. Holly grew up attending nature camp at the center, which made getting married there feel especially full circle for both of them.
Congratulations, Holly & Andrew. Your Chattahoochee Nature Center wedding was a beautiful reminder that the right day comes together no matter what the weather has planned.

I’m Raven Shutley — Atlanta wedding and elopement photographer obsessed with catching the “holy shit!” magic you’ll brag about for decades. 17+ years. 250+ love-soaked, champagne-soaked, sometimes-rain-soaked weddings. Zero boring ones.
The best days are full of “did that really happen?” moments and quiet ones alike: yelling vows over a waterfall, grandma losing her mind over your shoes, strangers cheering you on in the street. A dad-turned-unofficial paparazzi, a sibling choking up mid-speech, that deep breath the moment you realize you’re married.
The goal? A full story that’s wild, real, beautiful — so anyone looking at your photos feels like they were there.
