Want a day shaped around the two of you? Here’s what Georgia elopement photography includes.

Cameron and Monica got married on a late January morning outside the DeKalb courthouse, just the two of them and their officiant. By evening they were on a favorite restaurant’s patio in Atlanta with a few dozen favorite people.

I met them at the courthouse first. If you haven’t done this before, it’s worth knowing that photos aren’t allowed inside the room where you pick up your marriage license, but you can say your vows either in the lobby of the building or – even better – just outside in the courtyard. On a weekday morning it’s quiet enough that you get real privacy without having to go far. For these two, their officiant met them just outside, they exchanged vows and rings, and then he left to handle the paperwork while the three of us headed into Decatur Square.

It was January, so the square was still under construction in spots, but we were still able to hit some of their favorite locations on Decatur Square, like Little Shop of Stories. It’s a place that shows up on my blog a lot because couples keep choosing it and I keep being glad they do. They ordered matchas from Bellwood Coffee inside, browsed the shelves, talked about what they’re reading. Just the two of them in a place that felt like them, newly married.

Then they took a break to get ready, and we reconvened at Beetlecat, where they had rented the outdoor patio for the evening. Long family style tables, space heaters, a cocktail hour that moved between the patio and the den inside. Friends who had come from far away and friends who live right down the street.

They brought a whole dessert buffet from home and there were tons of speeches: a full wedding day, built around what lit them up.
