A Rhodes Hall wedding puts you inside one of Atlanta’s few remaining historic mansions on Peachtree Street, often called the city’s “castle on Peachtree.” I photographed Kat & Will’s wedding here this past fall, my second time shooting at this venue after nearly eight years, and it was a great reminder of how much a wedding day can feel like the couple getting married instead of a copy-paste Pinterest board.

About Rhodes Hall
Built in 1904 for furniture magnate Amos Rhodes, Rhodes Hall is a Romanesque Revival mansion built from Stone Mountain granite, complete with a carved mahogany staircase, stained glass windows, and a rooftop tower with sweeping skyline views. Today it operates as a house museum and event venue, with the main floor, front porch, and front lawn all available for weddings.
The venue holds up to 150 guests for a cocktail-style reception or 100 for a formal seated dinner, with smaller parlors available for more intimate ceremonies. Couples are allowed to bring their own alcohol, and Rhodes Hall provides a complimentary bridal suite on the ground floor for getting ready.

My advice for this venue: don’t feel like you need to add much decor. Rhodes Hall’s architecture, from the stained glass to the antique furniture already in place, does a lot of the visual work on its own. Kat & Will leaned into that by pairing the home’s existing character with their own gothic-inspired black and red palette, and the combination felt intentional rather than overdone.

What did you love about your venue/wedding location?
We love the architecture and interior designs of the rooms, except for the confederate stained glass. I’ve always loved Victorian era aesthetics. It’s also in the heart of my favorite city, Atlanta.

Ceremony Locations at Rhodes Hall
Most ceremonies happen inside near the grand staircase, with guests descending to enter, a genuinely striking way to start a wedding. For couples who’d rather marry outdoors, the front lawn and front porch are also available, and both keep you shaded from Georgia’s heat if you time your ceremony right.

Reception Venues at Rhodes Hall
Receptions can spread across the main floor, front porch, and lawn depending on your guest count and season. Kat & Will’s reception carried their dark, moody theme straight through the space, and the home’s Victorian details made their red and black palette feel completely at home rather than out of place.

Photography Opportunities at Rhodes Hall
Between the grand staircase, the front lawn, the back porch, and the rooftop tower, there’s genuinely no bad angle at Rhodes Hall. The tower access is one of the best-kept secrets here, giving you skyline views of Atlanta that are hard to find anywhere else this close to downtown. Golden hour and nighttime portraits from the roof are worth planning into your timeline if your reception runs into the evening.

A Real Life Rhodes Hall Wedding: Kat & Will
Kat & Will’s Rhodes Hall wedding was a beautiful reminder of what it looks like when a couple builds a day entirely around who they are. Kat got ready surrounded by her people in one of the home’s light-filled rooms, wearing a gothic-inspired look complete with a bat and spider motif robe and a black, sparkly gown. Down the hall, Will and his family kept things relaxed with a card game before the ceremony.
Their ceremony took place by the grand staircase, with guests descending to enter the space. It was an especially emotional moment for Kat & Will, who had experienced recent losses close to their wedding day and chose to honor that throughout the ceremony. Sharing their vows together ended up being the most memorable part of the day for both of them.
Afterward, portraits spread across the property, the front lawn, the back porch, and eventually the rooftop, where Kat & Will capped off the night with skyline views and a few quiet, just-the-two-of-them portraits. Their reception carried the same dark, personal theme throughout, complete with heartfelt speeches, a surprise childhood photo reveal, and a dance floor that ended in a bubble exit and an impromptu mosh pit.
Congratulations, Kat & Will. Your wedding day was a beautiful example of what happens when a celebration feels completely, unmistakably like you.
