A Jennings Trace wedding gives you a rare combination: sleek, modern architecture set right against untouched Texas woodland. I photographed Sarah & Chris’s wedding here, and it was clear from the moment we arrived that this venue was built specifically to make wedding days feel effortless. If you’re considering it for your own celebration, here’s what you need to know, plus a real look at how one couple made it their own.

About Jennings Trace
Jennings Trace sits on 9 acres of East Texas woodland in Montgomery, about an hour north of downtown Houston and just minutes from Lake Conroe. The venue blends modern-industrial architecture, brick, glass, and steel details, with the natural setting around it, giving you soaring pines and oaks as a backdrop no matter where on the property you’re standing.
The venue can host up to 350 guests and includes a glass-enclosed chapel with floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor lounge with bistro lighting and a firepit for cocktail hour, and a reception hall with skylights and polished concrete floors. Jennings Trace hosts only one event per day, so your wedding gets the property’s full attention rather than sharing space with another celebration.
My advice for this venue: let the architecture and lighting do a lot of the visual work for you. Every space here was clearly designed with natural light and photography in mind, especially the ceremony space, so you don’t need to over-plan your decor to get a beautiful result. Sarah & Chris leaned into the venue’s built-in personality, especially the reception hall’s starlit ceiling display, and it made for some of the most striking shots of their whole day.
Ceremony Locations at Jennings Trace
You can marry in the glass-enclosed chapel, filled with natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows, or opt for an al fresco ceremony set against the property’s soaring oaks and pines. Either way, the venue’s careful attention to natural light makes for a beautifully lit ceremony no matter the time of day.

Reception Venues at Jennings Trace
The reception hall is where Jennings Trace really shows off, with skylights, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a ceiling lighting display designed to simulate a starlit night sky. Sarah & Chris said that starry ceiling was one of the exact reasons they chose this venue, and it became a signature backdrop throughout their reception.
Photography Opportunities at Jennings Trace
Jennings Trace gives you a genuine mix of settings without ever needing to leave the property: clean modern buildings on one side, quiet pockets of wooded trail on the other. That variety meant Sarah & Chris and I could stay in one location and still come away with a wide range of imagery, from architectural, light-filled portraits to more natural, tucked-into-the-woods shots. The reception hall’s starlit ceiling is also worth building into your shot list, since it adds a completely different mood once the sun goes down.

A Real Life Jennings Trace Wedding: Sarah & Chris
Sarah & Chris’s Jennings Trace wedding felt effortless from start to finish, which tracks, since this venue was clearly built with exactly that in mind. Sarah’s bridal look pulled inspiration from Wonder Woman, cape included, and after getting ready, she met Chris for a first look just outside the venue.
They both agreed that first look was the most memorable moment of the day, a quiet, calm beat before everything else picked up. Their ceremony took full advantage of the venue’s natural light, and Chris’s kids were part of the day throughout, a sweet detail that made the whole celebration feel like a family coming together.
At the reception, Jennings Trace’s starlit ceiling display became the backdrop for the night. Sarah & Chris spent most of the evening on the dance floor, including a Viennese waltz for their first dance that Chris had taught himself just for the occasion. It went off without a hitch, and guests spent the rest of the night asking where they’d learned to dance like that.
Sarah & Chris, thank you for trusting me with both your engagement session and your wedding day. Getting to document this chapter of your story meant so much to me.
