This Trolley Barn wedding is one of the most visually distinctive wedding days I’ve ever been a part of. The 1889 building, the 30-foot ceilings, the mesquite floors, the lush brick patio tucked behind a Victorian neighborhood in Inman Park — it’s a venue that carries history and artistry. Then the couple added in a meticulously planned celestial theme and a full cemetery portrait session to the mix to truly create something stunning.

I had the privilege of shooting this wedding alongside Elicia Bryan.

The Day

Meg and Drew are a couple with a genuine eye for design and art. Every detail of their wedding was intentional and on theme: celestial bodies, suns, moons, and stars woven through every element of the day. The kind of wedding where you keep noticing things the longer you look.

Before the ceremony, I spent time with Drew and his side of the wedding party, which was a real pleasure. It’s rarer than it should be for a photographer to get that much unhurried time with a groom before the ceremony, and I always love it when it happens. It’s where some of the most genuine moments of the whole day live.

The cemetery portraits came first, at a location Meg and Drew had actually found themselves while exploring the neighborhood near the home they would eventually buy. That kind of specificity — a place they discovered together, that meant something before it was a backdrop — is exactly what makes documentary photography worth doing.

About The Trolley Barn in Atlanta

The Trolley Barn is located at 963 Edgewood Avenue NE in the Inman Park neighborhood of Atlanta, about two miles east of downtown. The building opened in August 1889 as the service and housing facility for Atlanta’s first electric street railway line. It has been carefully restored and is now one of the most sought-after event venues in the city.

The main hall is 2,730 square feet with soaring 30-foot ceilings, exposed wood beams, mesquite wood floors, and festive lighting. It accommodates up to 350 guests for standing or buffet-style events and up to 225 seated. The space also includes an 800-square-foot mezzanine overlooking the main hall, an adjacent serving kitchen, and a 2,400-square-foot general purpose and staging room.

Outside, a brick patio surrounded by lush gardens and graceful granite steps accommodates ceremonies and cocktail hours. The surrounding Inman Park neighborhood, lined with beautifully restored Victorian homes, extends the photographic possibilities well beyond the venue itself.

Included in the rental: use of the main hall, kitchen, mezzanine, and patio, all in-house tables and chairs, an onsite event attendant, and a one-hour rehearsal if the ceremony is at the Trolley Barn. Outside caterers and BYOB are permitted, which keeps vendor and budget flexibility high. Rental fees run from $3,000 to $6,500 depending on day and configuration. Photography at the Trolley Barn

The Trolley Barn is one of the most photogenic wedding venues in Atlanta, and a few things make it particularly strong:

The interior light. The combination of soaring ceilings, festive string lighting, and mesquite floors creates a warm, golden quality inside the main hall that holds up beautifully across an entire evening.

The brick patio and gardens. The outdoor space is genuinely lovely, surrounded by mature landscaping and granite steps. It photographs well in almost any season, and the rustic outdoor bar adds another interesting element.

The mezzanine. An elevated vantage point looking down over the main hall gives photographers angles that most single-floor venues simply can’t offer.

The neighborhood. Inman Park is one of Atlanta’s most beautiful historic neighborhoods, and a short walk in any direction from the Trolley Barn gives you Victorian architecture, tree-lined streets, and the kind of urban character that makes Atlanta wedding portraits distinctive.

Themed weddings photograph beautifully here. The neutral industrial bones of the Trolley Barn make it an ideal canvas for couples with a strong design vision. Meg and Drew’s celestial theme had room to breathe and show up fully in every frame.
