Plan Your Dream Wahoo Grill Elopement in Decatur
If you’re picturing an elopement that feels intimate, unhurried, and still full of personality, Wahoo Grill is worth a serious look. Tucked into Decatur, it’s a garden hiding behind a restaurant, green and a little wild, with enough privacy that a handful of people can gather there and feel like the only people in the world. The back patio garden is cozy and elegant in the same breath, which isn’t a combination you find often at venues this size.
Looking for an Atlanta elopement photographer? Let’s talk about your plans.

About Wahoo Grill
Wahoo Grill is a restaurant and event space in Decatur, GA, opened in 2004 by owner Pam Ledbetter. It’s known for its lush garden patio, and the space can accommodate up to 200 guests total, with the outdoor ceremony area seating around 110–120 plus standing room, so it flexes easily from an intimate elopement to a larger celebration. There’s also a climate-controlled indoor space with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden, which works well as a rain backup or for couples who’d rather host their ceremony indoors.

My advice for this venue:
Wahoo Grill doesn’t have a ton of privacy, so I always recommend a separate spot for first looks, and there are tons of great options nearby. More on that later.
The patio gets soft, filtered light through the plants most of the day, so timing isn’t as tricky here as it is at more exposed outdoor venues. If your group is small, lean into that. Let people spread out, let kids run around if you’ve got them there, and don’t feel like you need to fill every corner of the space.

Ceremony Locations at Wahoo Grill
The back patio garden is where most ceremonies happen, surrounded by plants that give the space a natural, unfussy backdrop. It’s an intimate footprint, better suited to smaller guest counts than a sprawling wedding, which makes it a strong fit for elopements and microweddings specifically. For couples who want a backup plan or prefer to be indoors, the glass-walled Garden Room offers the same garden view without the weather risk.

Reception Venues at Wahoo Grill
After the ceremony, the same patio transitions into a relaxed, al fresco dinner setup, or the space can be tented depending on your guest count and the season. Because Wahoo Grill caters in-house, the food and the venue are handled by the same team, cutting down on coordination between vendors.

Photography Opportunities at Wahoo Grill
The garden itself is the star here. Between the greenery, the private corners, and the filtered natural light on the patio, there’s a lot to work with without needing to leave the property. For portraits after the ceremony, nearby Decatur parks are an easy walk or short drive if you want a change of scenery.

A Real Life Wahoo Grill Elopement: Cat & David
Cat & David got married on the back patio garden at Wahoo Grill, and it’s one of the sweetest days I’ve had the chance to document. They rented out the whole space for just their closest family, kids included, welcome bags and all. Both dads had a part in the ceremony, both brothers spoke, and Cat’s mom and the kids sprinkled flower petals before the ceremony started. Dinner happened right there on the patio afterward, low key, everyone together, and the night ended with a send off full of maracas Cat & David had picked up in Mexico.
