Chrissy and Robbie’s October Wildflower 301 wedding was the kind of day that feels intentional from the very first moment — and it was. Before Chrissy even started getting ready, she walked through the ceremony space with incense, cleansing it and inviting in love and positivity before a single guest arrived. Their dogs were in the bridal suite all morning, walked down the aisle during the ceremony, and were part of the day the way they’re part of the relationship — completely woven in. Bold orange ran through everything, from Robbie’s boutonnière to the florals to the table details. Even in October, there were still butterflies at the ceremony site. That’s Wildflower 301. It’s the kind of place that meets couples where they are and gives them room to make it fully theirs.

I’ve photographed here more than once, and what I notice every time is how differently the property can look depending on the season and the couple bringing their vision to it. The gardens are always doing something interesting. The light through the ceremony arches shifts throughout the day. The mansion itself, with its wrap-around porch and vintage wallpaper, is a backdrop that holds whatever energy a couple brings to it. My job here is simple: stay out of the way and let the day unfold. There’s always something worth documenting around the next corner.

My advice for this venue: The ceremony space with the three arches is stunning on its own — you don’t need to over-decorate it. Plan for a first look in the gardens if you want a quiet moment before the ceremony; the property has a dedicated platform for it and the light there is beautiful. And if you’re doing a sparkler exit, the stone path through the gardens is made for it.

Plan Your Dream Wildflower 301 Wedding in Greensboro, GA
If you’ve been searching for a wedding venue that feels like a secret garden brought to life, Wildflower 301 might be exactly what you’re looking for. Tucked into the heart of downtown Greensboro, Georgia — about an hour outside Atlanta — it’s a historic mansion estate set on two acres of English-style gardens. The property dates back to 1803, and today it’s one of the most distinctive garden wedding venues in the South. It’s also a certified butterfly sanctuary, which tells you something about the kind of place it is.

About Wildflower 301
The history of Wildflower 301 goes back further than most couples realize. The Greensboro property was originally purchased in 1803 with the intention of becoming the site of the University of Georgia campus — before that plan shifted to Athens. The mansion that was eventually built on the property has been lovingly restored into what it is today: a 5,000 square foot Southern estate surrounded by two acres of thriving English-style gardens.
The venue has a warmth to it that’s rare. The mansion’s vintage wallpaper, ornate staircase, and wrap-around porch give it a sense of lived history. The grounds feel genuinely cultivated rather than staged — flowers, magnolias, butterflies, and all. It accommodates up to 170 guests and includes a separate 7,000 square foot Celebration House for the reception, so the ceremony and reception spaces feel distinct from each other without requiring guests to travel anywhere.

Ceremony Locations at Wildflower 301
The ceremony space at Wildflower 301 is the venue’s crown jewel. Three large cathedral-style arches anchor the outdoor chapel, surrounded by garden plantings, blooming flowers, and — depending on the time of year — butterflies. Chrissy and Robbie’s October ceremony still had them. The space is beautiful enough that it requires very little additional decoration, though couples consistently find ways to make it their own.
The Magnolia Terrace offers another option for ceremonies or cocktail hour, with century-old magnolias strung with market lights creating a canopy overhead. The gardens themselves provide natural framing throughout — pathways, greenery, and garden nooks that give the ceremony a sense of depth and enclosure without feeling closed in.

Wedding Ceremony at Wildflower 301
The ceremony space at Wildflower 301 is gorgeous! There are three big arches, which are lovely and the entire place has a spectacular garden. All over the ceremony site are nooks and crannies that provide such unique spots for portraits and special moments. Even though Chrissy & Robbie’s wedding was in October, there were still butterflies around the site, too! So beautiful.
During the start of the ceremony, Chrissy & Robbie had beer/flower guys. So they threw flower petals and also passed out a couple of alcoholic beverages to the crowd, which I thought was so great. Their officiant and maid of honor walked Chrissy & Robbie’s dogs down the aisle so they could be a part of the ceremony, too. Chrissy & Robbie also did a ring warming and passed the ring through the first row of guests – their families and family members.

Photography Opportunities at Wildflower 301
This property is genuinely generous from a photography standpoint. What I appreciate most is the variety — within a short walk of each other you have the mansion’s wrap-around porch, the ornate garden pathways, a woodland cove under covered trees, the first-look platform, the Magnolia Terrace, and the cathedral ceremony space. Every area has a different quality of light and a different feel.
The getting ready spaces are worth mentioning too. The White Room on the third floor of the mansion is bright and airy — great light for the getting ready moments. The Whiskey Room for the groom’s party has its own character entirely. Chrissy had the most extraordinary sparkly ankle boots that caught every bit of available light in the bridal suite — that kind of detail is exactly why getting ready rooms matter.
My approach here is the same as always: I’d rather you take an unhurried 20 minutes wandering the garden together than block out an hour trying to hit every spot. The property rewards couples who slow down and let the day breathe. The unscripted moments — Chrissy walking the ceremony space with incense, the dogs coming down the aisle, the ring passing through the hands of family — those are the images that last.

Reception Venues at Wildflower 301
The Celebration House is a 7,000 square foot reception venue that sits on the property with large windows keeping the garden views present throughout the evening. It includes a built-in dance floor, dining space, and bar — and it’s climate controlled, which matters in Georgia. Chrissy and Robbie filled the night with speeches, dancing, and a private last dance before their sparkler exit — something I’d recommend any couple consider. That handful of minutes alone together before the sendoff is a quiet gift at the end of a very full day.
The stone path through the gardens is where sparkler exits happen here, and it’s one of the better exits I’ve photographed. The path, the garden backdrop, and the light from the sparklers come together in a way that photographs beautifully.
