Caitlin & Trey // Providence Canyon Engagement Session

Caitlin & Trey came to me through Brittany, someone I’ve worked with a number of times over the years… From her engagement and wedding to Becca through their family photos once Bayard came along, and I couldn’t have been more delighted. Caitlin & Trey as very much my people: into hiking and exploring as well as being big Disney folks! During our session, I got to geek out with them over my fall plans and whether or not I should take a day to hit Disneyland Paris and share some of my favorite hiking trails and stories, as well.

Providence Canyon Engagement Session

They knew exactly where they wanted to have their engagement session. Since they got engaged at the Grand Canyon, it would be only too perfect to take engagement photos back home at Georgia’s “little Grand Canyon”: Providence Canyon! This was my second visit back, and I was thrilled to be there. Revisiting spots with couples {or even just exploring by myself!} always allows me fresh eyes, to see things I didn’t notice the first time, or see things that have changed, etc. And that we visited right when spring started changed things dramatically, too! All of the greenery was lush and full from the spring rains, which definitely visited us while we were there.

Weather is tricky, full stop. But it’s especially tricky when you have a destination that is far for everyone and you’re shooting in the middle of April. So we knew we’d have to be flexible and, more than likely, be cool getting rained on. Caitlin & Trey are unbelievable troopers. Seasoned hikers, I knew they’d be chill no matter what happened and they totally were. I had such a great time shooting and exploring Providence Canyon with them. We explored the bottom of the canyon, splashed through the running water, embraced the rain, had a beer, and even worked in an outfit change!

I love a hiking engagement session. It doesn’t have to be strenuous, the point is to explore and be outside with your love, if that’s something that calls to you like it does for these two. Their wedding is in Joshua Tree next April and I know it’s going to be spectacular. Thank you again, Caitlin & Trey!
