Jennifer, Drew, Ezra, & Zelda // Woodland Gardens Family Portraits
Jennifer & Drew are a couple I’ve been so lucky to see over and over, and it’s been amazing watching their family grow! I first photographed their wedding years ago, and their sunny & laidback personalities always have me excited to see them now as I get to photograph their family. I met Ezra a few years back at another mini session day and this time, I got to meet Zelda! She’s a perfect little peach of a baby and it’s so evident how much she and her older brother love each other. Sibling relationships are one of my absolute favorite aspects to capture in a family session!
Family Portrait Mini Session at Woodland Gardens
This is one of the reasons mini sessions can be so great. They’re perfect if you’re in the market for a wedding photographer, to get to know them briefly and see if you jive well enough to choose them for your wedding {this is also a great reason for an engagement session!}. They’re perfect if you’re looking to find a family photographer to come back to again and again. And they’re perfect if you just want a little taste of a session just because!
Personally, I do a lot of research when it comes to where I want to have my mini session days. I want to find something less trafficked, less known, so we won’t be overwhelmed with either other shoots going on or onlookers. My goal is to keep the distractions to a minimum, especially for these shorter sessions where we have a lot to get done in a little amount of time, so the fewer people around the better!
I also always want versatility: Is there somewhere to sit, stand, crouch behind bushes or flowers or foliage {it’s a thing}? Are there places in the shade and in the sun? How will it look different at my first session of the day vs the final session of the day? For this round of mini sessions, I went with the Woodland Gardens because it fit the bill so perfectly!
